University Relations at Creighton University

Position Summary:

The University Relations Division seeks to build life long relationships with alumni and friends of the University. The communication and marketing efforts targeting these and other special constituencies require an understanding of university advancement best practices concerning communication, engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The efforts need to address the division’s goals comprised of supporting the University’s strategic planning, alumni engagement strategies and revenue generation for the University.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications or related field is required; Minimum 4-6 years of experience in marketing with a proven ability to develop a comprehensive communication plan and implement best in class brand marketing and communication activities; Ability to use data to drive strategy and monitor results. Knowledge and experience with brand and direct marketing methods, as well as fundraising best practices. Knowledge of comprehensive fundraising campaigns preferred. Ability to consult and collaboratively work with a variety of subject matter experts and leaders across campus. Experience leading and managing the work of others to meet deadlines. Ability to work with Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of relationship management databases. Ability to use presentation software such as Prezi.

Demonstrated organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communications, strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and ability to be a persuasive presenter and effective developer and leader of integrated communication and marketing efforts.

Essential Functions:

Collaborates with Alumni Relations, Creighton Fund, Donor Relations, Gift Officers and Campaign staff to align communication and solicitation messages and schedules for coordinated communication activities. Coordinates with the University’s Marketing and Communications team to initiate and coordinate internal and external marketing and communication activities, branding and web strategy initiatives.

Develops and manages the implementation of University Relations division communication and marketing plan. Work with Division leadership to develop strategic and comprehensive communication and marketing for targeted constituencies. Coordinates and works cooperatively with external and internal partners in support of the University Relations communication plan.

Participate in the story development for the Creighton Magazine and other communications to alumni, donors, parents, friends and members of the Creighton community; including annual publications, e-newsletters, etc. to ensure the placement of strategic messaging to targeted constituencies.

Coordinate the development, management and maintenance of websites and content that supports University Relations and campaign web presence, integration of the operations, search tools and social media. Serve as liaison to creative services for videography and photography to support University Relations projects.

Effectively oversees production, ensuring standards for timeliness, quality and cost-effectiveness are met. Works closely with other marketing strategists across campus to align university brand strategies and communications. Educates and unifies marketing strategy team to stay consistent with brand messaging and guidelines in support of a comprehensive fundraising campaign. Assumes responsibility for special assignments, particularly during crisis or special events. Establishes and maintains project schedules for assigned work, consistently meeting deadlines.
